Obituary Condolences

VAN COURTLANDT
Carol Diane Van Courtlandt, 74, passed away on May 30, 2014, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 15, 1939, in Washington, D.C. to Frederick L. and Lena M. Freeman. She started life as a Navy brat. After she graduated from Suitland High School in 1957, Carol became a registered nurse and joined the Air Force. After leaving the USAF, Carol was a military wife and homemaker for 14 years and spent time teaching every child in the neighborhood a love of reading. In 1976, Carol began nursing again and worked as an RN at Lutheran Hospital until it closed. For the next 14 years, Carol worked as a nurse case manager for several insurance companies. After retiring in 2004, Carol spent much time taking care of all of the birds in her neighborhood. HEB will probably take note of a loss of revenue in bird seed. Survivors include her daughters, Valerie Van Courtlandt and Elise Van Courtlandt of San Antonio; and her granddaughter, Tasha Van Courtlandt of El Paso, Texas; and too many friends to list. A viewing will be held on June 4, 2014, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Mission Park North, 3401 Cherry Ridge, San Antonio, TX. Funeral services will be held on June 5, 2014, at 12:00 PM in the Chapel at Mission Park North. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
