STINSON
Robert Quincy "R.Q." Stinson was born in San Antonio,TX January 21, 1924. He passed away June 2, 2014 at the age of 90 in Castroville, TX. R.Q. was raised on the family farm in Rio Medina, TX by his parents, Felix C. Stinson and Alma Wurzbach Stinson. He graduated from Lytle High School and served during World War II in the Army Air Corp. R.Q. met Edith Grace Talanco in San Antonio and to the great surprise of their parents, he and Edith eloped to New Braunfels and were married September 2, 1946. The couple settled on their farm in Rio Medina where they raised three farm boys. R.Q. became a prominent farmer in Medina County and the State of Texas. R.Q. was a member of The Texas Farm Bureau, the Masonic Lodge of Hondo, the Alzafar Shrine, the Scottish Rite Temple of San Antonio, Medina Valley VFW #8134, American Legion Weiss-Wurzbach Post 460, Quihi Gun Club and was a life time member of Zion Lutheran Church of Castroville. He served as a trustee on the Castroville and Medina Valley School Boards. While serving on the Castroville School Board he and his fellow trustees revived the plan which was originated by his father who had previously been the President of the La Coste School Board to form a consolidated school district of the public schools in Castroville and La Coste. In 1960 a vote was taken which resulted in the forming of the Medina Valley School District. He was preceded in death by his parents Felix and Alma Stinson, wife, Edith Stinson and daughter-in-law, Merrilyn Echtle Stinson. R.Q. is survived by his son, Ronald Stinson of San Antonio, sons and daughters-in-law, Anthony and Suzanne Stinson of Rio Medina and Hilton and Cindy Stinson of Dunlay; grandsons, Matthew, Paul (Becki), Nathan, and Andrew Stinson, granddaughters, Rona, Sarah and Jillian Stinson; great granddaughters, Charlotte and Savannah Stinson; dear friend, Dolores Reyes. Visitation will be Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Tondre-Guinn Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be Friday, June 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Castroville, officiated by Pastor Skip Courter. Interment will follow at Zion Lutheran Cemetery with military honors. Memorials may be given in memory of R.Q. to Zion Lutheran Church of Castroville. visit www.tondre-guinn.com
