Dionicia "Chata" V. Castillo, a devoted and loving mother and grandmother, was joined with the Lord and reunited with the the love of her life, Marcelino E. Castillo, her husband of 56 years, and her daughter, Maria Elena Salinas, on June 2, 2014. She was born in Laredo, Texas, on April 8, 1926, and was a lifelong San Antonio resident of 88 years. She is preceded in death by her sons-in-law,Alejandro Martinez and Rogelio Valdez. She is loved and will be missed by her children, Marcelino (Rosa) Castillo, Jr., Dolores Martinez, Diana Guevara (Joe Escamilla), Virginia Castillo, Fernando Castillo, Juan Castillo, Guadalupe Valdez and Andres Castillo; 21 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 6 great great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held at Castillo Mission Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2014, and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. on Monday, June 9, 2014, with a Rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral procession will depart at 9:15 a.m. on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1314 Fair Avenue. Interment will follow at San Fernando Cemetery III. Services under the direction of Castillo Mission Funeral Home.
