REYES
In the early morning of Saturday, July 5, 2014, Leonel Reyes, Sr. answered God's call for eternal rest. Leonel was born in La Grulla, Texas on December 11th to Amelia Olivares Reyes and Pedro Reyes. He was the oldest sibling out of eight children. Together the family worked hard to support each other. He fulfilled his sense of duty by honorably serving in the Korean War, and when he returned home, he became a dedicated member of the Manuel Alvarado VFW Post 9186. Leonel continued to serve his country by working for the United States Postal Services until 1987. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. In January 1947, Leonel married Juanita Velez. They had two children, Alice Reyes and Leonel Reyes Jr. MD, both of whom encompass the values and virtues of hard work and family that Leonel firmly believed. He celebrated his life daily by visiting his children, his family, and his three granddaughters. When he was not enjoying his time with family, Leonel would work hard to maintain his properties and provide excellent customer service for his tenants. His astounding presence, love, and wisdom will be greatly missed. Leonel was preceded in death by his wife Juanita Velez Reyes. He is survived by his children Alice Reyes and Leonel Reyes Jr. MD, wife MaryAnn Reyes Ph.D, daughters Laura Gabriela Reyes, Claudia Cristina Reyes, and Amelia Margo Reyes; brother Arcadio and wife Maria Reyes, sister Lydia Reyes, brother Ricardo Reyes, sister Josefa and husband Eleasar Gil, sister Otilia and husband Enrique Flores, sister Guadalupe and husband Merardo Banda, sister Alma Rosa and husband Eduardo Rivas, longtime companion Ofelia Coronado, numerous nieces and nephews. Family will greet friends on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 6:00 pm at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.
