Eddie (Ed) Lee Barosh passed away on Friday, August 1 in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 83. Ed was born to the late Edwin and Emily (Millie) Janik-Barosh on April 13, 1931 at their home on the Barosh farm between Poth and Floresville, Texas. He was very involved in all high school sports and graduated in 1947. He attended Durham's Business College in 1948 in San Antonio, Texas. In 1949, he went to work at Frost National Bank in the mailroom and later at the San Antonio Transit Company. He was baptized and confirmed in 1949 and married Harriet Beyer on October 8, 1950, both at St. John Lutheran Church in Poth by Pastor Martin Burro. In 1952, he was drafted into the U.S. Marine Corp and stationed in Oceanside, California. He and Harriet remained there until March 1954. They returned to San Antonio and Ed went back to working for the San Antonio Transit Company for a very short time. The later part of 1954, he went to work Civil Service at Fort Sam Houston and remained there until he retired in 1987. Ed and Harriet had two daughters, Marcia in 1954 and Mona in 1962. Marcia married Robert Hamilton in 1973, while Mona married Randy Gorman in 1984. Every chance he got, Ed liked to try his luck in Vegas, Coushatta and Laughlin. He loved gardening, dancing, traveling, playing dominoes, watching all sports on television, fishing and visiting with family and friends. Ed's greatest joy was his family, especially his grandchildren, Nicholas Hamilton and Kailee Gorman-Neuman. He has one great grand-daughter, Adyson Hamilton and one great grand-son, Lyric Hamilton. Eddie is survived by his wife, Harriet, of 63 years; his loving family, his sister, Dorothy McQuarters, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Porter Loring Mortuary North Chapel.
