Zack Pendleton Sr., 80, passed away, Thursday, August 14, 2014 at his home surrounded by his loving family. A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 pm, Monday, August 18, 2014 at Mission Park Funeral Chapels North. Reverend Clarence Joseph Littlefield will be officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, August 17, 2014 at the funeral home. Zack was born October 9, 1933 in Grove Hill, Alabama. He was the second son of James Coma Pendleton and Lillie May Tate. He graduated from High School, and attended Tuskegee Institute. Zack married Levern Gipson in August of 1953. Together Zack and Levern raised 6 children together. Zack proudly served his country in the United States Army, and then in the Air Force for 20 years. After retiring from active duty, Zack worked for 15 plus years as a Conductor, for Union Pacific Railroad. He was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Zack is survived by and his wife of 58 years, Levern Pendleton, his four daughters, Deborah Pendleton, Cynthia Steen, Patricia Fields, Ninita Pendleton-Sims, and sons Zack Pendleton, Juston Pendleton. Zack was also blessed with grandchildren and great grandchildren, Whitney Pendleton, Patrick Fields, Patrice Alinger, Timothy Steen, Raven Fields, Patrick Steen, Ashley Pendleton, Amaya Sims, Vayda Lawrence, Reese Alinger, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents, James and Lillie Mae, Uncle Norman Pendleton, wife Lilli Mae, and brother, James C. Pendleton Jr. and Wife Dorothy.
