CARMIER
Leona Carmier, widow of MSgt. (Retired) Donald G. Carmier, died at the age of 94, Wednesday, August 13, 2014 in San Antonio, Texas. Leona was born in Alvy, West Virginia to Amanda Ashenhart Haught and John W. Haught both deceased. She was a veteran of WWII and an LVN for forty years in many San Antonio area hospitals. Leona was a member at large of both the WAC VET Association and the Society of Military Widows. Leona also belonged to the local Chapter of Gold Star Wives and DAV Auxiliary. Leona is preceded in death by two sisters, Lula Haught and Virginia LeMasters. She also leaves three daughters, Ardith Mady & husband, Robert of Cheyenne, WY, Amanda Cichanski & husband, William of Tacoma, WA, and Evelyn Lopez & husband, Raul of San Antonio, TX; five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday, August 18, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home. Funeral services will take place at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 19, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joan Ahrens officiating. Interment will follow with military honors at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be to the Animal Defense League.
