Obituary Condolences

Eleuterio G. Gonzales, Jr. (E.G. Gonzales, Mr. G.) beloved son, brother, cousin, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, god-father and friend went to be with the Lord on Monday, June 30, 2008 at the age of 76. He was born October 16, 1931. He is remembered for his sense of humor, kindness and as a person you could rely on in a time of need. His life-long passions were his family, dancing and umpiring. Eleuterio was a native of San Antonio and graduated with honors from Sydney Lanier High School. To help support his family he worked at Munguya Printing during high school and for the next few years. He then met the love of his life, Angelica Santos and was married on June 29, 1951. They had six children, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He had a 30 year career with Kelly Air Force Base as a Material Management Equipment Specialist where he gained the respect of his colleagues and made countless beloved friends. He also volunteered his time with youth and adult organizations such as NCAA baseball, CYO, St. Stephens Men's Club and various other non-profit organizations. He was preceded in death by Father, Eleuterio V. Gonzales, Sr.; Mother, Melchorita Garza; wife, Angelica Santos Gonzales and Son Mario S. Gonzales. He is survived and will always be loved by his sister Esperanza Duarte, numerous step-sisters and cousins; daughter Dominga G. Mireles and spouse Antonio Mireles; daughter Maria S. Gonzales, daughter Esmeralda (Mandy) Gonzales and Melanie Gonzales; son Bruce S. Gonzales and Dennis Medina; son First Sergeant Conrad S. Gonzales and spouse Leonor Gonzales; grandchildren, Michelle M. Vasquez and spouse Edward Vasquez; Valerie G. Araiza and spouse Israel Araiza; Mario D. Gonzales, Kamarie L. Gonzales, Reina A. Gonzales, Mary L. Vigil and Latisha R. Vigil; great-grandchildren, Israel Araiza Jr. and Isaiah A. Araiza. The family wishes to thank Compadres Andrew and Helen Guzman; beloved friend and companion Andrea Rodriguez and family; life-long physician Dr. Jesus Garcia; all of the doctors, nurses, and pastoral staff of Santa Rosa Medical Center Downtown; dear family friends Mina DeLaRosa, April Alva, Sandy DeLaGarza, Sammy and Carmen Gonzalez & family; and friends from Ballet Folklorico Festival. We would also like to give a special thank you for the countless prayers, support and love that have been expressed by all that have been touched by Eleuterio's life. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 6, 2008 from 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. with the Rosary held at 7:00 p.m. at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. The funeral procession will depart Trevino Funeral Home on Monday, July 7, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. mass at St. Stephens Catholic Church, 2127 S. Zarzamora St., San Antonio, TX 78207, with interment to follow at San Fernando Cemetery #2 on 746 Castroville Road, San Antonio, TX 78237. Funeraria Del Angel Trevino, Cupples.
