Joe Carvajal Obituary
MSGT (Ret.) Joe L. Carvajal, U.S. Air Force born on May 22, 1921 in San Antonio,TX. went to be with our Lord on January 11, 2010 at the age of 88. He was a Charter member of VFW Westside Post #8936 as well as past Commander, Sr.Vice Commander, Quartermaster, and member of Pup Tent #16 Military Order of the Cooties. He was also a member of the Wrambling Wrecks and Alibi Club. He is preceded in death by his wife, Santos M. Carvajal. He is survived by his daughters, Louise A. Cabriales and Loretta C. Salinas; grandchildren, Eugene Cabriales, Elizabeth Rodriguez (John), David A. Salinas (Rebecca), and Bryan Cabriales; great grandchildren, Joseph Cabriales, Marissa Rodriguez, Ivan Rodriguez, Isaac Rodriguez, Israel Rodriguez, Nevaeh Salinas, and Katana Allen; sisters, Alice De La Cruz and Mary Louise Vasconcellos; also numerous nieces, nephews, and his baby Sissie. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Sunday, January 17, 2010 at Trevino Funeral Home, 226 Cupples Rd. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday, January 18, 2010 in the funeral home chapel. Procession will depart from the funeral home at 9:00 a.m., Tuesday, January 19, 2010 for a 9:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Philip of Jesus Catholic Church, 142 E. Lambert St. Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. Services under the direction of:

Dear Carvajal Family:
Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your beloved. There are never any right words to express how deeply sad I am for the pain your family is enduring at this difficult time.
As Chair of the Senate Committee on Veteran Affairs and Military Installations, I am sincerely thankful for his valiant service in defense of our rights and freedom.
It would be difficult to measure the impact he made on the many whose lives he touched, personally and professionally. His commitment to family, friends, our community, and to serving our great nation leaves a wonderful legacy. May the love and the wonderful memories you shared with him help you when you need it most. He will never be forgotten, and your family will be remembered in my prayers.

Lulu & Loretta,
I love you guys and your father. He was always a kind man and a helpful man to me and my daughter Katana. He treated us as if we shared the same blood and he never had to do that. I love him for that and he will be miss. Your entire family are in my prayers. I know I didn't have much time with Papani but I feel like I have lost too. Our family isn't as close as you and your families are and i look up to all of you for that.
