Obituary Condolences

Dr. Richard Porter Wilson

In the early morning hours of January 16th a faithful husband, loving father, accomplished physician, and great friend went to meet his Savior, Jesus Christ. Dr. Richard P. Wilson was born in San Antonio, Texas on December 25, 1941 to Dr. and Mrs. Harry Wilson. He has two older brothers, Dr. Graham (LaRue) Wilson and Dr. Patrick Wilson; and one younger sister, Ms. Judy Schriever. Wanting to follow in the footsteps of his father, Richard desired to be a doctor and diligently worked hard in high-school, college, and medical school to achieve that dream. He graduated with honors from Highlands High school, honors from A&I University, and honors from Tulane School of Medicine. He interned at Robert B. Green hospital, conducted his orthopedic residency at UT Health Science Center, and served for 2 years in the U.S. Air Force as a major and in 1974 he returned to San Antonio to begin private practice in orthopedic surgery. In the spring of 1963, he married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Johnine Sue Hadaway. Together they created three beautiful children, Kathleen R. (Jeff) Gately, Rich P. (Leigh) Wilson, M.D, and Tiffany M. (Matthew) Haisten. They raised their children to know and love the Lord with all their hearts. Richard and Sue have 5 grandsons - Braxton Gately, Reagan Gately, Hudson Gately, Caden Gately, and Quinlan Wilson; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends. Richard was a devout Christian. Over the years he has served in various church ministries and has lead many souls to know the Lord. He was a good and faithful servant for Jesus. Richard was also an avid golfer, and one could often find him teaching others about the great game of golf. His son, sons-in-law, and grandsons will miss playing golf with this amazing man. Thank you for teaching us to always "follow through". Daddy, we want to thank you for giving us all roots and wings. Richard, as your soul mate, I will continue to love you until I see you again - "Until Then Sweetheart".
