LTC Philip A. Wood, USAF (Ret.), age 79 of Seguin, formerly of Tampa Florida, passed away on November 23, 2010. Visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel at 5:00 p.m. followed by the recitation of the rosary at 7:00 p.m. A procession will depart Tres Hewell Mortuary Chapel on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 8:30 a.m. for the Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church at 8:45 a.m. Graveside services and interment with full military honors will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. LTC Wood was born on September 8, 1931 in Macon, Georgia to Wendell and Mabel Strobel Wood. He proudly served his country by serving first in the United States Marine Corps and then in the United States Air Force. He served during the Korean Conflict, Cuban Missile Crisis and the Vietnam War. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Charles, James and Robert Wood, sister, Betty Palmer and sister-in-law, Joyce Castillo Rivera. Survivors include his loving wife Ofilia C. Wood; sons, Edmond P. Wood, Bryan J. Wood and wife Lazara and Philip Anthony Wood and wife Nena; daughter, Vicki Lee Jacobson and husband William; granddaughters, Camron Mari Wood and Tara Lynn Martinez and husband Chris; several other grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers-in-law, Steward David Castillo and wife Terry and Adolph Castillo and wife Maxine; sisters-in-law, Mary Agnes Walton and husband Richard and Frances Sanders; nieces, nephews and other family members.
