Antonio Chavez Obituary
Antonio "Tony" G. Chavez, age 84 passed away November 13, 2011. He was born on June 13, 1927 in San Antonio, Texas to Rosalio and Margarita Chavez. He was preceded in death by his son, Richard Paul Chavez. Tony retired from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of dedicated service and Kelly AFB also after 20 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Aurora Moran Chavez; children, Sandra Moreno, David Chavez, Cynthia(Greg)Ruiz; and grandchildren, Patricia (Alex) Arriaga, Ruth (Thomas Rodriguez) Moreno, Gregory (Maria) Ruiz III, Michael Ruiz and fiancé Jenny Moreno, Joseph Ruiz; great-grandchildren, Adriana Avendano, Lucio Antonio Arriaga, Samuel Rodriguez, Juliet Arriaga and Joshua Ruiz; brothers, Gregorio Chavez, Robert Chavez; sister, Mary C. Garza; numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. The family would like to thank the staff at Wilford Hall, BAMC and Vitas Hospice for their loving care of Tony, especially DeAnna Roso RN. Visitation will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 159 Camino Santa Maria Rd. on Sunday, November 20, 2011 beginning at 6:00 P.M. with a rosary at 7:00 P.M. The funeral procession will depart Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd. at 11:30 P.M. on Monday, November 21, 2011 for a 12:00 P.M. mass at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with interment to follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full U.S. Air Force honors.
