Our beloved Jesse passed away peacefully on November 1, 2011 at StoneOak Care Center. Jesse W. Boyd Jr., was born April 25,1926. He was the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Boyd Sr. He was a graduate of TMI and received his bachelor of music degree from Trinity University in 1951, and his masters in music from the Manhattan School of Music in 1953. Following the Second World War, he was a military attache to Gen. Douglas Mac Arthur in Japan. He taught piano for many years at Northside Music Studios in San Antonio, and played piano and organ at several Christian Science churches. He was a long time member of the San Antonio Music Teachers Association and served as president from 1969 to 1971. His musical tastes ran to the lush romanticism of the late nineteenth century, most especially the works of British composer Frederick Delius. Jesse was a life-long supporter of the San Antonio Symphony. Jesse was for many years a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He was an ardent animal lover, especially of cats. He is survived by his cousin Sally White of Hot Springs, AK and his Oklahoma college friend, Harvey Scholl of Atlantic Beach, FL., and many former students. Special thanks go to his caregiver Sean Howell, CNA who cared for and respected Jesse as that special man. Thank you to his nurse, Becky Carter who followed him through his illness with the utmost kindness, and the staff at StoneOak Care Center. A special thanks to all his friends at Frost Bank who saw that his needs and wishes were met. Full military honors will be held at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery on 11-22-11 at 11:00 am. Donations in Jesse's memory may be made to The San Antonio Humane Society or the San Antonio Symphony.
