Wilbert Lessie Bell, 81, of Wichita Falls, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 in the chapel of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
A son of the late John W. and Emerline (Smith) Bell, he was born on January 26, 1931 in Marlin, Texas. He served our country proudly in the United States Air Force where he retired as a MSGT. He later retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 19 years. On June 8, 1951, he married the love of his life, Elvin. They were married 57 years until her passing in 1994. He was an avid sports fan, and loved spending time with his family. He was also preceded in death by three sisters, Jessie M. Rabb, Arvella Hysaw, and Ozella Moody. He is survived by his children, Lorraine Russell and husband Gregory, Wilbert L. Bell, Jr. and wife Tasha, Kirk D. Bell, Vickie M. Gwynn and husband Howard, Deborah L. Washington and husband Lt. Col. Ternell, and Teri Bell Watson and husband Lacy; two brothers, L.V. Bell and James W. Bell; two sisters, Bessie L. Johnson and Elevia Johnson; eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.
