Margaret Lou Thonhoff

ALMIGHTY GOD, FATHER OF ALL MANKIND, called Margaret Lou Thonhoff Hensley from her sojourn on Earth to eternal life with HIM in HEAVEN on April 25, 2012. Affectionately known as "Mitzi" by family and friends, she was born at the Nix Hospital in San Antonio on September 20, 1952. She lived with her parents from 1951-1953 in San Antonio; at Jourdanton 1953-1956; and at Fashing 1956-1970. After graduation from Karnes City High School in 1970, she attended Texas Lutheran College and received a B.A. degree in teaching in 1974, and received a M.A. degree from Texas Christian University. After a 33-year career as a public school teacher at various places in Texas, she retired and then taught mathematics at Hill County College for a year and served as a grants program math teacher for another 3 years in Kenedy. Margaret is survived by her son, John David Hensley of Fort Collins, Colorado; her parents Judge Robert H. Sr., and Victoria Marie Balser Thonhoff of Karnes City; brother Robert H. Thonhoff, Jr. and his wife Kim of Austin; and sister Susan Elizabeth Thonhoff Rodriguez and her husband Rudy of San Antonio; and three nephews: Jason R. Thonhoff, M.D., PhD, of Houston and his wife Susi Ehrig Thonhoff; Travis W. Thonhoff of San Antonio; Kyle A. Rodriguez of Houston; and a niece, Kara D. Rodriguez-Carlson of Yucca Valley, California, and her husband 1st LT USMC Nathanael L. Carlson, currently deployed in Afghanistan. Margaret has lived in Karnes City since 2007 and has been an active member of the Karnes County Retired Teachers Association and as an Ambassador of the Texas Folklife Festival. She attended the United Methodist Church in Karnes City. Services are under the direction of Rhodes Funeral Home, 115 S. Esplanade St., Karnes City, Texas 78118, whose website is www.rhodesfuneralhomeinc.com . Visitation will be held at Rhodes Funeral Home on Saturday, April 28, 2012, from 5:00- 8:00 P.M. Her funeral service will be held in the United Methodist Church in Karnes City on Sunday, April 29, 2012, at 3:00 P.M. Interment will follow at the Karnes City Cemetery.
