Dan Bartlett Conoly, Jr., 81, of Floresville, Texas, died suddenly on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. A true "larger than life" character, he was born on September 5, 1930, to Dan Bartlett Conoly and Margaret Munro Conoly, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Graduating from Beeville High School and Virginia Military Institute in 1953, Dan received his Pharmacy degree from The University of Texas. An owner of Conoly Drugs, Dan had stores located throughout the state of Texas. He was a fifty year member of the Masonic Lodge and a devout member of the United Methodist Church in Floresville. Dan was an exceptional outdoorsman. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, having earned the Grand Slam of North American Sheep. With a booming voice and a raucous laugh, he was a talented storyteller. A great husband, father, and best friend, Dan will be deeply missed. He is survived by his wife, Debra Conoly of Floresville, Texas; his son, Bart Conoly Koontz (Dore`) of San Antonio, Texas; daughter, Shell Koontz Somoza, of San Antonio, Texas; son, Clay C. Conoly, of Bandera, Texas; daughter, Bitsy Neuser (Bob) of Beeville, Texas; step-daughter, Judy Caddell (Derrick), step-son, David Hohertz; step-daughter, Gina Short; and eight grandchildren and one step-great grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Jack M. Conoly; son, Patrick Conoly; and grandson, Augustus Cummings Koontz. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, June 8, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Floresville, Texas, and Pastor Michael Mumme will officiate. Reception will follow at the Fellowship Hall. The burial will be in the Mission Park South Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be Charlie Fuller, Alec Kibler, George Carroll, Ed Wicker, Jack Conoly and David Conoly. Honorary pallbearers are Bill Millican, Walle Conoly, Bill Conoly, Stan Conoly and Derrick Caddell. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Dan may be made to AugustHeart, 755 E.
