MILLER
ROGER JAY MILLER

Roger Jay Miller passed away June 11, 2012 with his family by his side, an optimistic attitude and the strength he maintained throughout h is battle with cancer. When we remember Roger we feel love, hear laughter, know generosity, and are reminded of family and friendship. His life was an adventure and he loved it. Roger was born on May 19, 1950. After graduating from Cole High School, he toured with the American rock band, The Monkees. It was during that time Roger had the opportunity (and took it!) to race with Michael Nesmith in the first Baja 1000. Following, Roger enlisted in the U.S. Army. Later in life, Roger became the proud owner of Texas Diamond & Jewelry with his true love, Marcia. In his free time he enjoyed the outdoors. Much of his time was spent fishing for the big Reds in Rockport, Texas. In fact, he spent so much time there it became his second home; always open to family and friends. His other free time was divided among SCUBA diving, playing guitar and mastering his barbeque talent. Roger joins his parents, Roger and Evelyn Miller in heaven. He is survived by his loving wife, Marcia Miller and sons; Michael, Zachary and Chadwick, sisters; Ann (RC), Kathryn and Marlene (Rudy), sisters-in-law; Susie (Ken), Debbie (Glenn) and Pam, Aunt Mimi and Uncle Ed (Phyllis) and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and beloved staff at the store. A memorial service will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home in San Antonio on Friday, June 15, 2012 at 3pm. In lieu of flowers and honoring his passion for the Texas coast and his love for animals, Rogers's family has requested donations go to the Coastal Conservation Association of Texas or any animal charity.
