Nicolas Arburn Obituary
Nicolas Joseph Arburn, age 18, passed away on June 12, 2012. A beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, he was loved by many people including those in the caving and reptile communities. The joys in his life were fishing, hunting, exploring and hiking, and collecting snakes and other reptiles. He was an active participant of the Junior Speleological Society and a member of the Texas Speleological Association, Bexar Grotto, and the North American Hunting Club. Nick also belonged to the Lonestar Reptile Syndicate. He will always be remembered for his great sense of humor and love of animals. His infectious smile and wonderful bear hugs will be missed by many. Nick is survived by his father Don Arburn, his mother Jenni Arburn, his sister Jessica (Waters) Lewis and brother-in-law Army SPC Trey Lewis, grandparents Lavonne and Charles Bradfield, Robert Arburn, and Joe and Ele Bucha, his uncle Scott Trautman, his aunts and uncles Ginger and Billy Rogers, Angel Bucha, Allan Dow, Audry and Justin Abbey, and cousins Abel Rogers-Garcia, Rhianon Rogers, Reno Wilson, Tony and Amanda Smith and numerous other family members as well as his dogs Lucy and Chica. He has been preceded in death by his grandmother Andrea Bucha. No funeral services are planned. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Nick's name to the Junior Speleological Society Fund of the National Speleological Society through http://caves.org/donate/.

Don,Jenni and Jessica, I only remember meeting Nicolas one time at the ranch,when you were doing some brush for us as a favor. I truly can't imagine how you are feeling, but our prayers are with you and I am sure he is in a better place with the Lord.

I met Nick through facebook when I was about to go to Austin for a TSS meeting. He wanted to know if I could go to Stephenville and pick up some kind of snake pen for him. When he realized that Stephenville was a major detour we commented on each others post frequently and met at one TCR. Fair seas and following winds my friend.

Jeep- I will miss you a whole lot. Already do. The reptile expos will never be the same without you. Always a kind heart & gentle precense. I know that you are far away, caving and herping in endless wilderness without a single pain, care, or worry in your mind. Have fun, kid! Until we meet again :)
Don, Jenni, & Jessica- y'all raised a great kid, who touched the lives of many young & old. He may be gone, but he left you with one heck of a support system full of people who loved him & knew that he would want his family well taken care of. We are praying for you.

Nic words cannot express how empty our hearts are!!!! There is one thing that we all know and that was you died doing what you wanted to despite all the warnings from every family member of the dangers of a motorcycle. I remember telling you on the deck that if anything happened to you I would never speak to you again. You just laughed at my not so logical comment. However, I did speak to you one last time in person yesterday with you in my sight. Oh, how you were loved.

The first time I met you, you had a challenge in your eyes and a snarky remark tumbling from your mouth. It took only seconds to let you know that you were in MY class playing by MY rules.
