Marcella Schaefer Obituary
Marcella ( Marcie) Schaefer went to be with our Lord on Friday, August 24th, 2012. On September 13, 1928, Marcie was born the fourth child, into a robust Family of nine children to Arthur and Cecilia Kleypas. Marcie was a Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend. Marcie was pre-deceased by her husband and soulmate, Roy, in 1983. She was also pre-deceased by her parents; brothers, Bill, and Calvin; her sisters Gerry, and Jeanne. She leaves behind a large and grateful Family---Sons, Clay (wife, Mary Elizabeth); Jim; Gary (wife, Mary Elena); Don ( wife, Heidi); Daughter, Nancy ( husband, Roger). Along with grandchildren: Shawn, Bryan, Stephanie, Brandon, Megan, Christi, Shanna, Ryan, Brandy, Brent, Travis. Great Grandchildren: Addisyn, Taylor (who shares September 13th Birthday), Flynn, Brianna, Ryne. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Ann, Bonnie, Pat, and Dorothy. As well as numerous nephews, nieces, brothers-in-law, and sisters-in-law. Marcie's Family members were true Texas pioneers, arriving in Galveston in 1846; making her great-grandchildren 9th generation Texans. Roy and Marcie were also local pioneers, they were among the original Founding Families of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church; and Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Roy and Marcie were the Founders of Schaefer's Bar-B-Q, which was located on San Pedro Avenue. We still have folks who fondly remember that once iconic local favorite. In later life Roy and Marcie turned a tinkering and woodworking hobby into full service retail business-Mr. Time's Clock Shoppe, located off Blanco Road. Marcie's day to day job was a stay-at-home Mother to her five children. She gave generously of her time, and love. She gave all the kids enough rope to explore, grow and become independent people. But she was readily available to take care of the bruises, tears, and problems that naturally arose when active kids were on the prowl. To simply sum up Marcie/Mom: A beautiful smile, a generous Spirit, and a Loving heart.
