Melissa Monreal-Zuniga, born November 24, 1969, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of her Lord surrounded by her family, at the age of 43, on December 7, 2012. Melissa married her soul mate Simon Zuniga on February 25, 1996 and shared four beautiful children with him; Brianna, Bailey, Augustine and Arrianna. Her children were Melissa's greatest pride and love. Melissa graduated from Jefferson High School and received her bachelor's degree in early childhood education from the University of Texas at San Antonio. Melissa was a teacher at Harmony Hills Elementary and prior to this she taught at Gardendale Elementary and was greatly loved by all of her students and colleagues. Melissa loved life and lived it to the fullest, never passing up a chance to have fun and enjoy herself. She was always the one enjoying the party the most and the last one to leave it. She cherished her family and was always there for them, from being their shoulder whenever they needed one to being the person who hosted every family breakfast, Sunday BBQ and Holiday get together. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Artemio & Josephine Madrid, paternal grandparents Johnny and Luz Monreal. Melissa is loved and will be greatly missed by her husband, Simon and children Brianna, Bailey, Augustine and Arrianna. Mother Esther M. Monreal and father Joaquin H. Monreal. Siblings: John Henry, Jack (Irma), James, Denise, Joel, and Andrea (Brian) Christiansen. As well as numerous relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held at 6P.M., Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church with the rosary to be recited at 7P.M. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at St. Gregory The Great Catholic Church at 9A.M., followed by intement in Mission Burial Park South.
