Paul Morton Duke was called home by Jesus on 1/21/2013 at the age of 78. Born on 6/28/1934 at Fort Sam Houston to Alice Enlow and Paul Hardin Duke, he was raised in Devine, TX, and followed the Warhorses until his final days. Paul was a proud veteran of the US Air Force, serving during the Korean War and then retiring from Kelly AFB in 1987. He was predeceased by his parents and his beloved brother Weyman.
He leaves behind his loving wife of nearly 45 years, Laurie, and his sons & wives, Paul Curtis & Kathy and Gary & Maria. He will be greatly missed by his two grandsons, Garrett Patrick & Dillon Hardin Duke who are following in his percussion footsteps ("Bang 'em good for E-Paw"). He also is survived by his sister and sister-in-law, Peggy Lester and Genie Norris of Devine and their families, and brother-in-law John and his wife Virginia Kraemer of Ruidoso, NM, and their family, as well as numerous cousins and other relatives.
Memorial service and interment will be at Fort Sam Houston on Wednesday, January 30 at 2:15 pm.
Paul's family wishes to thank his wonderful team of doctors including Drs. Robert Goff, Jairo Melo, Laura Jacobs, Lon Smith, and all of their staffs. The family also wishes to thank CIMA Hospice and especially Van, Chris and Ashley for their tender care.
