Robert Flores Obituary
BMC Robert Flores, US Navy (ret.), died Saturday, January 19, 2013 at age 82. He first entered the Navy at the age of 13. He was sworn in to duty on 5/17/43, after graduating from boot camp; only to be caught by an examining physician, and sent home. In October, 1944, he re-enlisted, or as he put it "I conned my way back in". During his career, Chief Flores was awarded numerous medals before retiring from the Navy after 30 years of service. Preceded in death by his wonderful mother, Francisca Flores, his loving wife, Martha Flores and his cousin, Joe Guerrero. He is survived by his children: Kim Marchand and husband Robert, Laura Ryan, Bill Morales, Max Morales and wife Carey, all of Dallas, Tx; grandchildren: Michelle and Christina of Dallas, Jennifer of Austin, and Andrew of Kilgore; sister: Elisa Rodriguez; nieces and nephews: Elsa, Mike, Liz and husband, Kelvin, Lenny and husband William, and Cindy; cousins: Dora, Vickey, Genovieve, Mary Louise. A Rosary will be recited on Wednesday at 7:00 pm in The Angelus Chapel. Funeral Mass will be offered Friday at 10:15 am at St. Paul Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: , Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International, , ASPCA (American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
