HOWELL
Joe Wimberly Howell passed away on Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in Austin, Texas.

Joe was born in Charcoal, Texas on June 22, 1935 to Nannie Gladys & Jasper N. Howell. He was a 1954 graduate of Edcouch Elsa High School. He attended Texas A & I in Kingsville where he played football and was the team captain. After graduating in 1959 he embarked on a long career as a high school teacher and coach which included leading the Devine High School girls' basketball team to the 1962 Texas State Championship. Joe enjoyed being with his family and friends along with fishing and hunting.

Joe is survived by his older brother, Jasper (Buddy) Howell and wife Diane, younger sister, Nancy Barnett and husband John; children, Kent Howell and wife Elaine, Diana Escueta and husband Mike, Sean Howell; and grandchildren, Kelsey & Zachary Howell, Kimberly & Katelin Escueta, and Zoe & James Howell.

A memorial service celebrating Joe's life will be held in June of 2013 in Victoria, Texas. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrell Funeral home, Austin, TX.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Texas Kidney Foundation (txkidney.org).
