Jose R. Moreno, a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather and proud WWII Army Veteran, passed away peacefully on February 22, 2013. Jose was born to Joe and Gregoria Moreno on November 11, 1924 in Woodsboro, TX. Mr. Moreno's service medals and decorations include: WWII Victory Medal, Bronze Arrowhead, Combat Infantry Badge, Purple Heart, Honorable Service Lapel Button, Army of Occupation Medal with Germany Clasp and Bronze Star Medal for D-Day at Normandy, European-African-Middle Eastern Theater of Operations. He is preceded in death by his wife Matilde C. Moreno and his parents. Jose is survived by his sons Joe and Betty Moreno, Alex and Anita Moreno; 9 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; 3 brothers; 5 sisters; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM, with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM, on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at Brookehill Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be held at 9:15 AM on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at St. Joseph's (South San) Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Military Honors.
