COCHRAN
John Devin Cochran D.D.S. (Dr. John) passed away peacefully Saturday morning April 27, 2013 surrounded by his family. John was born November 21, 1933 in Bonham, Texas and graduated from Bonham High School. He attended The University of Texas at Austin and was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. After college, he was accepted into the University of Texas School of Dentistry and was a member of Psi Omega dental fraternity.
John and Deneen McMurry were married at the First Methodist Church of Bonham June 9, 1956 while he was in dental school. Upon graduation, John entered the U.S. Air Force and spent three years working in the dental clinic for the Strategic Air Command in Altus, Oklahoma. He achieved the rank of Captain prior to being honorably discharged from the Air Force.
He started his dental practice in San Antonio, Texas and was a member of the San Antonio District Dental Society and served as President. He was also an active member of the Texas Dental Association, American Dental Association and volunteered at The San Antonio Christian Dental Clinic. John spent much of his free time at Oak Hills Country Club playing golf with friends. John was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was an avid member of the Thursday morning men's Bible study.
John never met a stranger, he will be remembered for his outgoing personality and great sense of humor. He had such an endearing and welcoming spirit that he will never be forgotten.
He is survived by his wife, Deneen, son Devin and wife Eileen, daughter Shawnna Fatjo and husband Tom, son, Kelly and wife Stephanie. Grandchildren include Cullen, Ian and Jack Cochran, Austin, Ashley, Jacqueline and Channing Fatjo, Jonathan and Lauren Cochran.
SERVICES
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at 1:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church, 404 North Alamo, San Antonio, TX 78205. John was laid to rest at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery.
