Jean Martin Braley passed away peacefully at her home in San Antonio, TX on May 5th, 2013. She was born October 29, 1929 in Eagle Pass, Texas and later moving to San Antonio with her parents William B. Martin, Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Taylor Martin. Jean was a wonderful and generous mother, sister, aunt and friend, but the role she treasured the most was that of grandmother. She attended St. Mary's Hall, Fairfax Hall in Waynesboro, VA., and Incarnate Word College. Throughout her life she was involved in numerous community and social organizations in the city. She participated in the Boards of Directors for The
, Cancer Therapy and Research, Bank of San Antonio, Lancer Corporation, and was a Trustee of Incarnate Word College. Jean enjoyed playing golf, traveling to different places around the world with her many dear friends and family and will be missed by all. She will always be remembered by having strong business acumen and for her wonderful New Year's Eve parties and celebrations. She belonged to The San Antonio Junior League, Battle of Flowers Association, Monte Vista Garden Club, San Antonio Country Club and The Argyle. Jean's primary interest was always in her children, grandchildren and extended family and enjoyed being a part of their lives. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband William Vogel Braley, her son Billy Braley and by both of her parents. She is survived by her lovely daughter Jeanne Braley Alfaro, husband Eduardo and granddaughters Alexandra Jean and Ashley Noel, brothers William Martin III and George Merrick Martin. Nieces Mitsy Martin Marquez, Keiko Martin Johnson, Mary Martin Magers and great niece Maren Ellen Magers. She is also survived by others nieces and cousins: Ann Payne Houck, husband Rob and daughter Elizabeth, Pat Payne Brown and her children Clayton and Taylor, Bruce Payne, wife Debbie and son Chris, and godchildren: Peggy Berry Betts John Berry and Cecile Russell Nelson. The family's deepest gratitude goes to her loving caregivers Maria Hatch and Maria Sanchez. Honorary pallbearers are David Straus, Joe Straus, Jr., Tom Frost, Jr., Fred Woodley, Fred Lepick and John Berry.
