Daniel "Danny" Casillas, born April 5, 1955 went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday September 9, 2013 at the age of 58, after a long fought and courageous battle with cancer. Daniel was born in San Antonio, Texas. He is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandparents Jovita Rodriguez and Armando Rodriguez, Paternal Grandparents Maurilia and Jose A. Casillas. Survivors include Mother Guadalupe R. Casillas and Father Baltazar C. and Evangelina Casillas, Daughter Brandy and husband Justin Sande, Sister Diana and Steven Morey, Brother Dennis Casillas, Sister Debra and Mike Henderson, Sister Gracie and Leroy Ramirez, Brother Sammy and Sylvia Maldonado, Sister Samantha and Richard Acuna. 10 Nieces and 13 Nephews. Daniel was a graduate of John Jay H.S. class of 73. He immediately enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Kitty Hawk during the Viet-Nam era as a Data Systems Technician, attaining the rank of Petty Officer 2nd class . Upon being Honorably/Medically discharged, Daniel worked for the US Postal Service and followed his passion for music working part time as a musician in a band after work. Daniel pursued his music career playing locally in San Antonio with the Patsy Torres Band in the 1980's. Daniel later progressed into becoming a sound engineer at Joey records before elevating his skills in Los Angeles California at Westlake Audio working with major recording artists. Daniel then excelled at EFX movie studios in Burbank California, working with special effects in the movie industry. A Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday September 18, 2013 with a service beginning at 7:00 PM. A final viewing will begin at 8:30 a.m. on September 19, 2012 with departure at 9:30 a.m. for interment at Ft. Sam National Cemetery.
