Manuel Moran Barboza Obituary
Manuel Moran Barboza, born June 17, 1925, passed away on November 8, 2013, at the age of 88. He married his beloved wife Olivia Arriola on September 4, 1949 at San Juan Capistrano Catholic Mission. He leaves behind his beloved wife of over 64 years Olivia A. Barboza, and children, Blanche Delgado, Victor Barboza and wife Penny, Roxanne Jones and husband Tim, and Kerry Barboza and wife Cheryl. In addition, there were 8 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Manuel was born in San Antonio and had 6 siblings, brothers John, Clemente, Jesus, Luis, and sisters Adelina and Beatrice. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemente and Gracia Barboza, and siblings, John, Clemente, Jesus, and Adelina. During World War II, Manuel served in the US Navy as a Machinist Mate. Manuel, John, and Clemente all served simultaneously in different branches during WWII, which included the US Navy, US Army and US Air Force. Clemente, who was in the US Air Force, was buried in France after the Liberator plane he served in was shot down during an air mission over France. His younger brother, Luis would eventually also serve in the US Air Force. After the war, Manuel worked at Swift & Company, Inc., for approximately 44 years. He was the patriarch of a large and extended family. He dedicated his time in retirement to sporting events and in service to his family. A favorite family tradition, which started over 30 years ago, included celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, and holidays for all family members at various restaurants and homes.
Visitation will begin on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM with a Holy Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Brookehill Funeral Chapels. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment to follow at San Jose Burial Park with US Navy Military Honors.
