Eric Carl Sutton, 63, fought a courageous battle against Multiple System Atrophy. He departed our world peacefully surrounded by his family at his home in La Coste, Texas on November 12, 2013. He was born at Ft Bliss, Texas to Sears Gary and Mamie Louise Sutton on April 7, 1950. He is preceded in death by his son, Richard Eric Sutton, his parents, and his brother Gary Sutton. He is survived by his true companion and wife of 39 years, Sharon Sutton, his sons, John Sears Sutton, Nathan Alexander Sutton, Colin Thomas Sutton, his sister Ann Hardy as well as loved nieces and nephews. Eric graduated from UTEP and St Mary's Law School and began a private practice in real estate and family law as well as a teaching career at UTSA in Business Law for over 30 years. Eric was a passionate advocate for children, founding the Transplants for Children Agency in 1986 and providing many hours of pro bono work for them. He was also the President of the national transplant association founded by Dr Everett Koop, The American Council on Transplantation. His true calling was in his legal work as an Ad Litem for abused children. He gave much to help the children in these situations, Eric or "Chef Suttonio" was a master chef and his great joy was cooking fabulous meals for his family and friends. He loved to spend time with his friends and family, he loved music, and photography and traveling. He had planned many more great adventures. He will be lovingly remembered as a great philosopher and mentor, possessor of great wit, and a huge caring heart. He was a most wonderful husband, father, son, brother, brother in law, and friend to many. His approach to this horrendous disease was an inspiration to us all-he never got lost in self-pity but welcomed each day. His last gift was the donation of his brain to further research in fighting this disease. His loss is profound. The family wishes to thank Elizabeth Miller, Lisa Rivera and Patty Trim for keeping him safe, comfortable and joyful. Also to VITAS Hospice for their support over the many months. His celebration of life is open to all and will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2013 at 3pm at Woodland Baptist Church, 15315 Huebner Road San Antonio Texas. Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Eric requested that donations be made to Brain Support Network, PO Box 7264 Menlo Park Ca. 94026;brainsupportnetwork.org.
