Harold Edward Fischer III, age 64, passed away at his home in San Antonio, TX on January 12th, 2014. He was born on May 24, 1949 in Fort Benning, GA. to Col. Harold E. Fischer Jr. and Dorothy V. Herron. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served as a combat medic in Vietnam with the Tiger Force, 101st Airborne Division from 1967-1969. He received the Purple Heart for being wounded in action. He is survived by his only son, Harold E. Fischer IV (Meg) from Atlanta GA. Brothers Mike Harrell (San Antonio), Kurt Fischer (New York), and Clint Fischer (Iowa); and Sister Dana Fischer (Iowa). Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service held on February 28th at 1:30 PM, at St. Thomas More in San Antonio, TX. Interment will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph's Indian School, 1301 North Main Street, Chamberlain, SD 57325.
