Shelby Mayer, died a very tragic death at the young age of 46, but now has found peace in Heaven and is an angel protecting his precious children and family. Born on April 7, 1967 in San Antonio TX, and survived by his daughter, Cari Mayer; twin sons, Cody & Casey Mayer; granddaughter, Railyn Grace; parents, Allen & Eleanor Mayer; 3 sisters/2 brother-in-laws, Sharon & Ed Berger, Sandra Mayer and Susan & David Oliver; and several nieces and nephews.
Shelby graduated from St. Gerard's Catholic School and was employed by CPS Energy for 23 yrs. Shelby enjoyed living on his great-grandparent's farm in New Berlin, TX, where he fished and enjoyed the outdoors with his kids and helped raise cattle with his father along the Cibolo Creek. Shelby was his father's "ranch-hand".
Shelby was always the joy of holidays making everyone laugh with his witty sense of humor, and of course knew all the stats of sports and especially of the "only teams that mattered" - Cowboys, Yankees and the Spurs!
A Catholic funeral is being held in respect for his family today, March 6, 2014, at 2pm at St. Benedict's Catholic Church, 4535 Lord Road, San Antonio, TX. His children are holding his burial service with close family on his farm, Friday, March 7th, 2014.
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS, his daughter and twin sons request a donation to be made to the American Foundation For Suicide Prevention memorial fund set up in living memory of their father: http://afsp.donordrive.com/campaign/shelbymayermemorialfund Their hope is that this might help save someone else's loved one. God Bless.
