Frances Ann (Pat) Simpson died on May 12, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband Joe T. Simpson in 2002. Pat was born in Gary, Indiana on April 22, 1927 to Frank and Annette Schlater and lived in Whiting, Indiana throughout her childhood years. She received a Bachelor's Degree cum laude from Northwestern University in 1949, majoring in speech therapy, and was a member of Delta Zeta sorority. Pat received a Master's degree from Wayne State University, Detroit, Michigan in 1957 and did postgraduate work at Central Michigan University. She lived in Lake Orion, Michigan from 1950 to 1981 and was a speech pathologist in the Rochester and Troy, Michigan public schools for 31 years. She married Walter Griffin in 1950 and they retired to San Antonio in 1982. Mr. Griffin died in 1988. In August, 1990 she married Joe T. Simpson, a retired San Antonio radio broadcaster. Pat was a member of Delta Zeta sorority, a life member of Michigan and National Education Associations, Michigan Association for Retired School Personnel and Northwestern University Alumni Association. Pat's primary interest was animal welfare. All of her cats had been strays. Her special love was for "Annie", a calico kitten who looked at Pat and said "take me home." Annie died in December, 2013. She is survived by sisters Sydney Zsido, Sauk Village, Illinois and Meredith Bjorklund, Winter Park, Florida, two nephews and two nieces. Private Entombment will be at Mission Burial Park North.
