Paul Washington Obituary

WASHINGTON
Paul Emery Washington, age 87, peacefully went to be with his Lord on Saturday, May 24, 2014. He was born in Santa Maria, TX on August 2, 1926. He grew up in Denton and served his country by joining the Navy at the age of 17 in 1943. He graduated from Baylor University in 1951. He worked all of his adult life and retired from William Cameron Company, where he was the general manager of the San Antonio branch. After retirement Paul volunteered at the San Antonio Zoo as a docent and for numerous community projects. Paul was the closest descendent of President George Washington, this was documented in two NBC programs; Weekend in 1976 and the Today Show in 2008. Paul is preceded in death by his wife, Jody, of 64 years, his daughter, Julianne Coons and sister, Sue Yeats. He is survived by his sons and their wives, Dick and Missy Washington, Bill and Lydia Washington and Jack and Brenda Washington; and his sisters, Shirley Scott and Mary Southwell; grandchildren, Shelley, David, Trey, Taylor and Connor; 8 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Our family is so blessed to have had a man of such great character and strength as our patriarch and he will be greatly missed. We would also like to thank his caregiver, Laura Paveglio.
