Francis "Pat" A. McCaffrey passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014 at the age of 88. Born August 18, 1925 to Patrick McCaffrey and Bridget Rafferty in East Providence, RI, Pat was a first generation Irish American. He had the distinction of being the youngest of eight children and the only one born in the US. Pat went on to serve in the Navy and Air Force during WWII and later married his wife of 65 years, Shirley Stevens (McCaffrey). He is survived by Shirley; his four children: Laura Douglass (Bobby), Thomas (Alma), Patricia, and Steven (Carol); his five grandchildren: Dawn Archundi (Jeff), Bridget Mimari (Nik), John Thomas Douglass (Annalisa), Shane McCaffrey, and Troy McCaffrey; and two great-grandchildren: Abigail Archundi and Nicolo' Douglass; in addition to many nieces and nephews. An avid lifetime golfer, Pat also loved music, his Boston Red Sox, and the Washington Redskins. We will all miss the stories of his childhood, tales of his time in WWII, and of course, his endless supply of jokes. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, June 14 at St. Brigid's Catholic Church. Visitation will precede Mass from 10:00-11:00 am. A private internment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston at a later date. In lieu of flowers, and to honor Pat's love of golf, donations may be made in his memory to The First Tee of Greater SA. Donations can be made online or mailed to 915 E. Mulberry, San Antonio, Texas 78212.
