Elaine Ella (Mattke) Williams age 74 of Kirby passed away February 9, 2007 in Seguin. She was born May 1, 1932 in Guadalupe County, near La Vernia to Ernst (Tom) & Ella Schraub Mattke. Elaine was a member of the LaVernia High School class of 1949. Briefly after high school, she worked in Seguin. After moving to San Antonio, she began work for the City Public Service Board in October of 1950. Expecting her first child, she left CPSB in May of 1956. Returning to the workforce in December of 1957, Elaine went to work at USAA. After 35 years of service she retired in June of 1992. She was a member of the USAA Golden Eagles Club, LaVernia Hermann Sons, and a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church of Elm Creek, Seguin, Texas. In 1995 she went to work part-time at the San Antonio Auto Auction (SAAA) and remained there until October 2004. She is preceded in death by her parents, one great nephew, Christopher Mattke and Bobby G. Williams, father of her children. Elaine is survived by her son, Mark Randall Williams and wife Kathleen of Seguin, her daughter, Susan Elaine Soeth and husband Bill of San Antonio; five grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan and Megan Williams, Ashley and Erick Soeth; brother, Milton Mattke and wife Mary of Seguin; sisters, Mildred Meyer and husband Arthur of San Antonio and Marilyn McKee and husband Allen of Seguin. Elaine is also survived by one aunt, Hulda Warncke of Seguin; two nephews, three nieces and their families, numerous cousins and wonderful friends and neighbors who have been so helpful during her illness.
