FRANCIS SCHWANTNER Obituary

SCHWANTNER, FRANCIS U.S. NAVY RETIRED Sept. 22, 1936 to Jan. 31, 2013 Francis "Franko" was born in St. Louis, MO. to Frank and Dorothy (Sievers) Schwantner, the second of two children (with his sister Dorothy). He retired from the Navy in 1975 after serving 22 years and then worked in the RV business until his full retirement. Frank married Jeanette (Haddock) on November 16, 1957. They raised five children together, Mary (Jack) Sanders, Joseph (Sherri) Raymond (Wendy), Ann (Bruce) Nelson, and David (Jacki). He is also survived by 19 grandchildren and their spouses and four great-grandchildren Frank was a Scoutmaster for the Boy Scouts and Commander of American Legion IB Post 820. He was an honored member of the Knights of Columbus. Fleet Reserve Assoc., VFW and DAV. Frank and Jan enjoyed retirement traveling, spending time together with their large family, serving at the Chargers Blood Drives and attending their 19 grandkids graduations and many sporting events. Frank loved John Wayne movies and Aztec and Chargers Football. Frank passed away peacefully in the care of the wonderful staff of Balboa Navy Medical Center, with his family at his side. Services will be held Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at Glen Abbey Chapel of the Roses, 3838 Bonita Rd., Bonita CA. Military Honors following at 1:00 p.m., Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery, Cabrillo Memorial Dr. San Diego, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: WoundWarriorProiect.org
