WING, ROGER MITCHELL Roger Mitchell Wing born on April 24, 1959, and passed in his sleep on January 25, 2013. He is the son of Rey Novera and the late Alice Novera. Roger moved to San Diego at the age of 12 from Florida. He attended San Diego High School where he was a Drum Major for the marching band and graduated in 1977. He worked most of his adult life in the respiratory field changing many lives one day at a time. He was and will continue to be a well-loved individual who was always willing to lend a hand or take on any challenge that may have arose. Roger had a host of hobbies during his life that he excelled at such as scuba diving, archery, cycling, disc golf and dune riding. He considered himself an amateur magician and was teaching himself guitar. You could say Roger was a jack of all trades. He enjoyed traveling and exploring new things around the world. He especially loved playing practical jokes and pranking people. For over 30 years Roger played monthly poker games with his long time buddies. He was an awesome Papa to his grandson and loved playing with him and teaching him new things. He had a kind heart and quick wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survived by wife Robin Wing, son Christopher Wing, daughter Tomora Sanders, grandson Trey, father Rey Novera, sister Jewell Calva, brothers Johnny Wing and Early Hilgersen and nephews Nicholas and Victor along with a host of many friends. Viewing will be held Thursday, Jan. 31st, 4 to 8 p.m. with Services at 6 p.m. at Featheringill Mortuary, 6322 El Cajon Blvd., San Diego, CA 92115. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Coronado Southern Baptist Church Childcare Center, 111 Orange Avenue, Coronado, CA 92118.
