Frances Corrine Phelps

Phelps, Frances Corrine LA MESA -- If you're reading this, Mike's mom has passed away. She went home on Veteran's Day, November 11, 2012 at 1:32 p.m. in the great care of hospice of San Diego, with her son and her man Bob Weisser beside her. Corrine was able to complete some of her bucket list this summer, she and Bob drove to Poulsbo, Washington to visit one of her oldest friends, Lou. Corrine and Mike loaded up the R.V. and departed on June 9, 2012 and did not return until July 19, 2012. They traveled many parts of the USA, stopping in Las Vegas to win some gas money... then off to Lake Powell thru the Rookies in Colorado. Then headed to Indiana to spend four weeks with her siblings, Mary E. Stanberry, Deloris and Edward Smith, Melvin "Bud" Smith of Terre Haute, Indiana; Doris and Delbert Venters of Plant City, FL.; Benny and Becky Smith of Seelyville. On the way home some of the sites. Mt. Rushmore, Yellowstone, Sturgis, South Dakota, and Salt Lake City. Survived by her sons and grandchildren, Curt and Mike Sanford of San Diego; Dean Sherman of Ann Arbor, MI; five grandchildren, Nick and Rheanna Sanford, Natalie Bohlin of San Diego; Justin and Lauren Sherman of Ann Arbor, MI; Marilyn Sherman, wife of Dean Sherman and the mother of Justin and Lauren; two great-grandchildren, Bailey Sanford and Mia Bohlin; Bob Weisser, a special friend, San Diego; Wanda Simpson, and the whole Simpson family; Matthew Wilson great-nephew and her pen pal of Terre Haute; Pam Sanford, Idywild, CA. Her husband Capt. Gordon Phelps; brothers, Edwards Smith and William Smith; sister, Lillian Austin; and former husband Dean J. Sherman preceded her in death. Celebration of life Ceremony for Corrine Phelps, join us on April 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., Mt. Soledad Veterans Memorial, 6905 La Jolla Scenic Drive South, La Jolla, CA, 92037; reception to follow.
