Lawrence Bland "Larry" O'Harra

O'Harra, Lawrence "Larry" Bland OCEANSIDE-- Lawrence "Larry" Bland O'Harra passed away on March 7, 2014. Larry was known for his quick wit and smiling Irish eyes. He was a phenomenal dancer, winning several contests and loved to sing Irish folk songs. He built many things, but was most proud of his ability to fix almost anything provided he had his trusty roll of Duct Tape! Larry was born to Wayne Gilder and Mary Bland O'Harra on December 29, 1937 in Phoenix, AZ where he was raised and graduated from Glendale High School. He obtained his engineering degree from University of Arizona. He had three children with Faye Blevens O'Harra and in 1974 moved to San Diego County. After working for IBM in sales and programming, he worked as a commercial real estate broker and was a partner in the Rancho Del Oro development company. Most recently he developed a software program to assist charities in their fundraising. In 1990, Larry married Colleen Richardson O'Harra. Larry was dedicated to assisting non-profit organizations. He served on the Boards of Women's Resource Center, TriCity Hospital Foundation and the North County Philanthropy Council. Several other organizations benefited from his consultant work. Larry is survived by his wife, Colleen; his children, Kevin and Sharon Sachse (Dirk); his step-children, Alicia Richardson and Laura Bassett (Taylor); eleven grandchildren, Patrick, Anthony, Mallory, Christina, Amanda, Winter, Hannah, Alison, Ashley, Joshua, Claire; and one great-grandchild, Makaio. He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Lois Lund; and son, Brian. A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., on March 15th, at El Camino County Club in Oceanside. Friends and family will gather for an Irish "wearing of the green." Memorial donations can be directed to Women's Resource Center, Hospice of the North Coast, or TriCity Hospital Foundation.
