MAGNUSSON, LOTTIE MARIE On October 26th, one day after her 93rd birthday, Lottie Marie Brown Magnusson passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Raised in Los Angeles and San Diego by her mother, Rosa Maria Clotilda Lombardo and stepfather, LaVerne Brown, Lottie and her siblings (Virginia Evans and Bill Brown) were taught to love life and music. At 22, she married Magnus Daniel Magnusson, a tall, gentle clarinetist she'd accompanied in high school orchestra. During their 61-year marriage, they raised their children, forged deep friendships with others, traveled the world and built houses in San Diego, Bass Lake, Ahwahnee and Ramona, California. Music filled their lives. A Juilliard graduate, Daniel was the San Diego Symphony's Principal Clarinetist for 20 years. They enjoyed many wonderful musical experiences with the Symphony, the San Diego Opera and the San Diego Woodwind Quintet. An accomplished pianist, accompanist and teacher, Lottie taught piano for 74 years. She retired at 90. As a Bible teacher, Lottie instilled the commandment "to love Jehovah your God with your whole mind and with your whole strength" and "to love your neighbor as yourself." At 93 she continued to tell others about the wonderful things she had learned from the Bible and to share her hope for the future. She will be remembered lovingly as the essence of feminine dignity, grace and love by her children, M. Daniel Magnusson, Jr. (Barbara), Kaaren Jones (Terry) and Bob Magnusson (Janet), 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many friends. A Memorial of her life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on November 10th at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 6525 La Jolla Scenic Drive South, La Jolla 92037.
