Mary Emma Rich

Rich, Mary Emma ESCONDIDO -- Mary Emma Rich, 104, passed away on March 8, 2013. She was born on July 8, 1908 in Goshen, Indiana, daughter of Ruby Alice (Hatch) and Charles Herbert Adams. Mary was a graduate of Goshen High School in 1926, and received a B.S. degree, majoring in Latin, from the Indiana University in 1930 in Bloomington, Indiana. She became a teacher of Latin and Physical Education. She was also a case worker for the Dept. of Public Works, was a Camp Counselor, and Campfire Girl Leader. Mary was a member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, AAUW, First Christian Church of Yuma, Ariz. Her favorite pastimes were bridge clubs, quilting, crocheting, extensive world traveling, and she was a church deaconess. She was thrifty, witty and generous. Mary was preceded in death in 1987 by her husband, Charles Rich; and her daughter, Charlotte Beaton. She is survived by daughters, Rose Mary Register of Escondido, Calif., and Janet Lorene Mangold of Wenatchee, Wash; seven grandchildren, Charles Register, James Register, Cheryl Cady, Caren and Donald Beaton, Chris and Brian Mangold; and nine great-grandchildren, Nathanael Zamir, Moriel Zamir, Rita Register, James (Jamie) Register, Nicole Manidorova, Max Malcomb, Tristan Mangold, Landon and Victoria Mangold. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 6, at Bethel Baptist Church, (corner of Felicita and Brotherton), Escondido. Interment will be at Willamet National Cemetery in Portland, Ore. Memorial contributions may be made to the San Diego Rescue Missions.
