Patricia Ann Catton

Catton, Patricia Ann ESCONDIDO -- Patricia Ann Catton (born Lackamp) died on February 22, 2013. She was born on March 21, 1922 in Cleveland, Ohio to Irma and James B. Lackamp. She was an only child in a large Swedish family with seven aunts and uncles and 19 first cousins. She attended college for two years at Purdue University. Patricia moved to California with her parents in 1941. There she met and married the love of her life, Thomas Richard Catton III, a member of the Army Air Corps. They lived in Santa Monica California for 30 years, raising their two children, Cynthia Jane Chisum (Ronald Chisum) of Escondido, and Thomas Richard Catton IV (Bea Austin) of Keaau, Hawaii. Patricia went to work in 1963 at Santa Monica Hospital as a "ward clerk." Her outstanding skills impressed the hospital director and she was promoted several times, eventually to be the Director of Admitting. She and Tom retired to Escondido in 1979. They volunteered at Patio Playhouse, Elizabeth Hospice and Meals on Wheels. Pat lost her husband, Tom, in 1999 after 56 years of marriage. She is survived by her children five grandchildren, Celeste Barcia (Joe), Josh Catton (Khym), Darren Chisum (Angela), Heather Rhodes (Adam), Rick Csintalan (Miki); and ten great- grandchildren. There will be no services. A private family memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Escondido Humane Society or Interfaith Community Services.
