Raymond Guy Lair

Lair, Raymond Guy ESCONDIDO -- Raymond Guy Lair, born May 30, 1919, died April 14, 2013 in Escondido, Calif. He was born in American Falls, ID, the youngest of seven children. Ray graduated from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Ore., and enlisted in the U. S. Navy. A Pearl Harbor survivor, his 26 years as a Naval Aviator included service on aircraft carriers in the Pacific Fleet during both WWII and the Korean War, a tour in American Samoa, followed by various tours in the U. S. and Japan as a helicopter pilot. Following his Navy career, he worked for the State of Oregon. Ray and his wife, Ruth, retired in Hawaii for 25 years, then later had various homes in Nevada, Florida, Washington, and California. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ruth Speer Lair; and three of his four daughters, Kathy Tidy of Melksham, England; Elaine Miller of Ocala, Fla; and Anne Lair of San Diego, Calif. He also has four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren Condolence cards and letters should be sent to his widow, Ruth Lair, at 162 Tranquility Glen, Escondido, CA 92027
