Richard Francis "Kris" Krist(1919 - 2013)

Krist, Richard Francis "Kris" VISTA-- Richard was born on April 15, 1919 in New Britain, CT, and passed away peacefully on August 21, 2013 at the age of 94, in Vista. Richard lived his early years in New York City until joining the military in 1938. He served his country proudly as a United States Marine, retiring in 1959 as a Master Sergeant. He fought in the South Pacific during World War II and again during the Korean Conflict, earning many decorations and commendations. After his career at Rockwell, he established his own business, installing and maintaining burglar alarm systems. Richard was a lifelong Amateur Radio Operator (HAM), first becoming licensed at the ad of 13. He was among a select few to earn No. 1 Honor Roll award, having spoken to over 300 countries. He was preceded in death by his lovely wife, Laura in 2010. He is survived by many friends and neighbors who will miss his quick wit and willingness to help with any home project. Services will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Allen Brothers Mortuary in Vista, with Pastor Mike Reed of Calvary Chapel Oceanside presiding. A burial service will follow at Riverside National Cemetery, with full military honors.
