David Barker Obituary
Barker, David SAN DIEGO -- Born on July 7, 1926 in Richfield, UT to James Roy and Elsie Peterson Barker, Dave later moved to Logan, UT where he finished schooling and graduated from Utah State University. He got his Masters degree at KU in Lawerence, KS and post-graduate study at MU in Columbia, MO. He was the youngest and feistiest of four boys. Two younger sisters were added later. He married Margaret (Peggy) Stephens in Pittsburgh, PA on August 2, 1960. Dave served in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He was a retired Naval aviator, and retired founding Psychology Professor at San Diego Mesa College. Dave and Peggy raised three children: John Kevin (Lori), Karen Lea (Bill) Laver, and Amy Lynn (Richard) Trimble. Grandfather to eight grandchildren: Cory and Nina Barker, Logan, Raven, Devin, and Prudence Laver, and Morgan and Tori Trimble. He is also survived by his brother, Jerry (Tulsa); and sister, Muriel B. McHardy (Phoenix/Logan). He was a greatly loved son, brother, cousin, flyer, uncle, husband, father, grandfather, friend, teacher, and "exercise nut." Committal Service will be at Miramar National Cemetery on September 22, 2014 at 11:30 am. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to ADRC (Alzheimer's Disease Research Center), La Jolla; Lightbridge Hospice, San Diego; San Diego Humane Society; or the Scholarship Fund at San Diego Mesa College.
