James "Jimmy" Corona Obituary
Corona, James "Jimmy" ESCONDIDO -- James "Jimmy" Corona, 59, a lifelong Escondido resident passed away on Friday, October 25, 2013. Jimmy was born on July 3, 1954 in Escondido. He attended Escondido schools and graduated from Escondido High School in 1972. He earned an Associate's Degree in Fire Science from Grossmont College, later received his EMT Certificate, and achieved the rank of Captain. Jimmy spent 39 years in the fire service. His career started as a volunteer firefighter with the San Pasqual Fire Department the age of 20. His passion of being a firefighter grew to owning his own firefighting business serving San Diego County. In 2003 and 2007, Jimmy, his crew and his father, fought the two largest wild land fires in San Diego County. Jimmy had an interest in the military, both current and historic, especially WWII. He built and raced muscle cars, and was active in the Screen Actors Guild providing fire suppression for television shows and several motion pictures such as U-571, The Siege, Volcano, and Mighty Joe Young. He is survived by parents, James and Hope Corona; sister, Kathleen Corona; aunts and uncles and cousins. The Funeral Service was held on November 6, 2013 at Alhiser-Comer Mortuary in Escondido and the Interment followed at Oak Hill Memorial Park in Escondido. Arrangements are by Alhiser-Comer Mortuary.
