Lowell E. DeWolf Obituary
DeWolf, Lowell E. OCEANSIDE -- Lowell E. DeWolf, 92, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2013 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease. Lowell was born August 08, 1920 in Edgerton, MN. He joined the Minnesota National Guard as a teen and was subsequently called to active duty in early 1941; serving throughout World War II until his honorable discharge in 1945. Prior to the war, Lowell honed a talent as a softball pitcher in local fast pitch leagues and took that prowess with him to the U.S. Army. Following his discharge however, sports were no equal to a young lady named Marian Rohrer who he met during the summer of 1948 and married on October 04, 1948 in Huron, SD. Together they created a loving marriage of nearly 65 years. As an executive in the automotive diagnostic industry, they traveled extensively and lived in a variety of domestic and international locations. They relocated from Chicago to Solana Beach, CA in 1977 where Lowell worked as a marketing consultant until his retirement in 1993. While always active, Lowell's fondest memory would certainly include Chicago, where he and Marian decided to take up ball room dancing. They became very accomplished and were awarded many trophies in competitions throughout the Mid-West. Upon relocating to Solana Beach, Lowell became serious about golf and was a member at the Lomas Santa Fe Country Club where he made a hole-in-one in 1991. He truly treasured his life with Marian in Solana Beach, and since 1993, in Oceanside. Lowell is survived by Marian and a younger brother, Morrie (Vera) DeWolf of Portland, OR. He also leaves a large group of nieces & nephews to whom he always served as a role model. Lowell has been cremated. A Mass and memorial service will take place at a TBD time at their parish - the San Luis Rey Mission in Oceanside. The family would appreciate contributions to the Alzheimer's' Association. They would also like to thank Active Care at Bressi Ranch Carlsbad and Hospice by the Sea for their absolutely superb care and support throughout Lowell's illness.
