Ebert, Marlene Jondal (Vonne) SAN DIEGO -- Marlene Jondal Ebert (Vonne), 81, died on July 16, 2013 in San Diego. The ninth child (of 10) of Bertha Johnson and William Jondal of Hayfield, MN. She graduated high school in 1950 and the University of Minnesota School of Home Economics with distinction in 1954. She married Robert H. Ebert of Le Center, MN in April 1955 and taught for four years, primarily Home Economics. Divorced in 1976, she is survived by son Mark John of Fort Worth, TX, daughter Lynn Carol of San Diego, brother Frank Jondal of St. Paul, 21 nieces and nephews and several great- and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by both parents and eight siblings. She retired from the University of California, San Diego where she worked as Secretary / Word Processor for California Sea Grant for 13 years. Her readers' theatre script, "Margaret Sanger: Pioneer of Birth Control" was published by the Unitarian Universalist Association and used in churches throughout the country. Her principle passion was participation in the actiivities of Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest. A second passion was travel. She took nine trips to Europe. She began making quilts in late 2003 and since has made 26 quilts (most of them large), all professionally quilted. Seventeen have been given to relatives and one to a friend. At the San Diego County Fair, one was awarded a Blue Ribbon, one a second place award, and five Honorable Mentions. Recently, she self- published, "Elizabeth and Darcy, a Comic Sequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice." Memorial Services will be held at First Unitarian Universalist Church of San Diego, 4190 Front St., on Thursday, July 25, 2013, at 1:00 p.m.
