MUSKAT, NORMA Holocaust Survivor Succumbs To Cancer Norma Muskat, age unknown, beloved wife of Colonel Marvin Muskat, USA (Ret), passed away quietly in her sleep, on Thursday, September 13, 2012. She was at Sharp Hospice Care after treatment at Sharp Memorial Hospital for pneumonia and lung cancer. As a teenager in Poland during the Holocaust, she was saved by her father's friend who owned a large farm just outside Warsaw. She was hidden in a cellar for 4-1/2 years, only able to come out at night. A band of underground fighters came by, took her to the coast, put her on a freighter going to America and she landed in New York City. Family members picked her up at that time. In addition to her husband, Norma is the matriarch of five generations, leaving a son, daughter-in-law, a daughter, two step-daughters, ten grand-children, five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchlldren. Her cremains are inurned at Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California. Her husband, Marvin, is receiving telephone calls at home.
