Obituary Condolences

Marsh, Richard Saul LA JOLLA -- Dr. Richard Saul Marsh of La Jolla, a loving family man and an instrumental force in the development of San Diego's medical community, is now at rest. Dr. Marsh was born in Chicago in 1918, where he obtained his MD from Northwestern University in 1943. Toward the end of WWII, he served The United States Army in Guam as a Captain in the Medical Corps. Dr. Marsh moved to San Diego in 1950 as one of the founding partners of The Anesthesia Service, the country's largest anesthesia group, and later directed the Department of Anesthesia at Sharp Hospital. He retired in the mid 1980's, but remained dedicated to modern medicine, attending weekly Grand Rounds at Scripps Green Hospital until recent years. He passed peacefully at 94 years old just before midnight on April 14th, with his beloved wife of 68 years, Soney Ann Marsh, right by his side - to whom he devoted himself infinitely and selflessly from the day they met. Dr. Marsh is also survived by daughters Terri and Vicki; sons-in-law Stephen and Robert; and grandsons Nicolas, Ryan and Kevin. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 17th, at 1:00 p.m. at El Camino Imperial Avenue, 3953 Imperial Avenue, San Diego, CA 92113, (619) 264-3168. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly request a donation be made in Dr. Marsh's name to Doctors Without Borders.
